Talented Musician, Alex Mabey, Sings for Seldovia on Saturday Night!
by Jenny Chissus, another Great Concert sponsored by the Seldovia Arts Council
Mark your calendars, don’t put your jammies on early and settle in at home! Make plans to attend this free concert and dessert potluck at the Sea Otter Community Center this Saturday night at 7:00pm! Bring your desserts and enjoy an evening out, and a top-notch serenade! Alex Mabey, from Washington is here to sing for Seldovia!
I had a chance to sit down with Alex and visit about how she came to love singing, songwriting, travel and now Seldovia! Alex is a charming gal, with a great smile, a big heart for Alaska and a wonderful voice! We are fortunate to be able to enjoy this intimate concert setting, where we can visit and enjoy making a new friend with a traveling artist!
Alex is dating our Math and Science teacher, Justin Derks, (What is that about opposites attracting? Artist girl, math/science guy?) which is what has brought her to Seldovia. To find out a little more about Alex, enjoy this uncut and authentic video (sorry Alex – left in the part about editing out something!) of an introduction to Alex and an invitation to the community of Seldovia to come out Saturday night! Oh, did I say the concert was sponsored by the Seldovia Arts Council, and that it is free to enjoy for the whole community?
Yes – do bring dessert! See you there! Oh, also, I heard there are new chairs in the SOCC?
You can also go to Alex’s website at www.AlexMabey.com (please note that it is in the process of being updated) or go directly to Youtube.com and do a search for Alex Mabey to see other videos she’s done – there is even one in Homer – Click here to directly to a page of her videos!
