Ready for Snow…2nd Annual Gear Swap a Success!
by Damara Burnett
Approximately forty bargain-shopping Seldovians showed up last Saturday for the Annual SRSA Outdoor Gear Swap, many leaving with “new-to-them” ski or skate gear . . . just in time for the fresh snowfall. Sellers earned cash for their sold items, and an additional $120 was raised through a chili and cornbread lunch to purchase snacks for winter youth ski outings.
Volunteer Craig Barnard was also on hand at the Swap to help new skiers try out different ski gear and get inspired to hit the backcountry. A special thank you to Craig for all of his enthusiasm and energy to help get people – young and old – outside and having fun!
Also – please note that the Seldovia Sea Otter Community Center now has a new website! Please go directly to www.SeldoviaRec.com to see all the latest happenings, calendar and updates!

Tonight’s show was once again, amazing! With 49 students from Susan B English performing on the stage – how could it not be?
There was hardly a space to park as we arrived at the show – even 10 minutes early, the parking lot was full! As folks wandered in to take their seats, I couldn’t help but notice the many happy faces, and many new faces in town – looking forward to their first time at an SBE Christmas Program event!
As is customary, the Head Start students, led by Sherri Burt and Laurie Gallien were the first to grace the stage! 6 Students: 3 boys, 3 girls – ready to make their debut! They performed their own lyrics of the Twelve Days of Christmas song (including excavators, sharks, mermaids and princess Barbies) – The students: Adelynn, Bo, Duna, Ellis, Holden and Lily did their best to remember their lines, smile and talk into the microphone, as Kari Hendrich accompanied with guitar! When the song was through, a quick bow, and then they all went into a very spirited dance – their smiles, energy and enthusiasm was palpable! Way to go Head Starters!
