Seldovia Bay Ferry Makes Tournament Runs to Homer – UPDATE

UPDATE: Friday, February 7, 2014 at 9:57am – by Ian McGaughey

“Due to high seas and freezing spray, the ferry run this morning is on weather hold. The captain is monitoring conditions to see if they improve enough for a potential run later today.”

Thanks to the Seldovia Bay Ferry, there will be runs back and forth from Homer for folks wanting to participate in the games!  I had a visit with Ian about the specifics, and wanted to make sure folks knew that there are special conditions to this sailing!

Though the ferry will be carrying tournament players, the public is welcome and will be charged $35 each way, regardless if they are traveling for the tournament or not.  They do not have access to systems for processing credit cards, so please be prepared to pay cash or check for your tickets on board.  Captain Janel Harris will be back at the wheel, and Camille Turner will also join the crew for these two sailings!

As noted on the flier, due to winterization, there will be no water available on the vessel, which means no bathrooms.  Also, people with limited mobility are strongly discouraged from traveling at this time as there will be no ramp to the ferry in Homer. For the same reason, the transport of freight is also strongly discouraged.
The return trip from Homer on Saturday, February 8th will likely take longer than the usual 45 minutes due to darkness.
