Congratulations Ecola Collier! Seldovia of Commerce President and Citizen of the Year – 2024!

We want to thank the community for the fantastic response to the request for nominations for this year’s Citizen or Business of the Year – Amazing – 12 nominations were received!

The nomination for Ecola read as follows:

Ecola is has stepped into many volunteer roles in the community over the past year. From volunteering at the school, joining the Chamber of Commerce, being a leader to revive the Chamber and taking on the extensive role of president. She also brought her creative talents to life in the new SVT clinic as the main design consultant on the project. Ecola has now two thriving short-term rental businesses in the community that provide great places for our tourists to stay. I have had charter guests stay at her properties and they have nothing but amazing things to say about how she is attentive to every detail and make their stay memorable and comfortable. She also uses her businesses social media presence to promote everything Seldovia including other businesses! She has made great efforts to make sure that all businesses are recognized in our community and supported. She also has made sure that the teachers in our community are welcomed and has reached out to see how we can make Seldovia more welcoming including hosting a girls night dinner to help them meet other community members and feel connected outside of the school. She also stepped up when she heard they needed adequate housing and was willing to accommodate their housing needs including pets.

SBE – Joint School & Community Planning Meeting

11/6/24 Water Update: The Boil Water Notice for the City of Seldovia, has been removed.

The City of Seldovia has flushed its system, and the samples have been tested and results received this morning. DEC has lifted the boil water notice. Thank you all for your patience during this process.
