Celebration of Life for Agnes Lee

AgnesLeeLong time Alaskan resident, Agnes Lee, 74 went to be with her Lord on November 25, 2013 at her home in Palmer, Alaska. Agnes was born to Tom and Ruth Wood on September 14, 1939 in Pikeville, Tennessee.

During her youth Agnes put her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior. She graduated from Bryan College in Dayton, Tennessee in 1961 with a degree in elementary education.  In the fall of 1961 Agnes began teaching first graders at the Berean Memorial Church in Irving, Texas. It was there that she met a Dallas Theological Seminary student, named Bob Lee. They were married on August 1, 1963. Bob and Agnes joined the Central Alaskan Missions to help establish the Alaska Bible College in Glennallen, Alaska. They arrived in Alaska in January of 1966. Agnes worked as the college cook, teacher, and librarian while raising three children.

When Bob was called to pastor the Lazy Mountain Bible Church in Palmer in 1982, Agnes served as the church secretary, taught Sunday School, helped arrange the food service for many banquets, social gatherings and weddings, sang in the choir, and made many “meals on wheels” for needy families.

Agnes was known for her scrumptious meals and her hand dipped chocolates. She sold hundreds of her delicious raspberry pies and cakes at the Alaska State Fair.

Friends have written, “Agnes’ smile is God’s gift of sunshine to us all.” “Her joyful eyes, enthusiasm for life and sense of humor was contagious.”
Her husband writes, “She was my best friend and the love of my life. She was the wind under my wings, and an incredible, one of a kind, precious godly wife.”

Agnes is survived by Bob, her loving husband of 50 years; her son and daughter-in-law, Andrew and Nancy Lee of Anchorage, her daughter and son-in-law, Jenny and Dale Rowland of Fairbanks and daughter Penny Lee of Washington, DC, her grandchildren, Dalton and Kade Rowland, her brother Claude Wood of Pikeville, Tennessee, and her sister, JoeAnn Wood Moore of Manhattan, Kansas.

The Celebration of Life service will be held at the Lazy Mountain Bible Church on Saturday November 25, 2013 at 10:00 am.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made out to the Lazy Mountain Bible Church and designated for the Benevolent Fund which is used to help the needy.
